Forums like this are not hard to move though, the only downtime should occur during the DNS change. Copy db to new server, move files, update settings in db or config file to use new database and server paths...then point DNS to new server. Easy as pie.

Either way...I hope they figure out what the deal is. Sucks when there is no MAAST.
I have no idea what language you wrote the first part of your post in but I agree with the last part! Lol. I couldn't even access the site between @ 6:30p until this morning.

I'm not a computer guy, and the only reason I know how to type is because in high school... well, that's where all the girls were at.

Here's the problem in a nutshell. It would appear that Skynet is causing all of the problems.

shh... connectivity won't be a problem for much longer. ;)

Nothing that a thousand dollars wouldn't cover.

I'm trying to recall EXACTLY what has/had transpired, but some oldtimers may remember:

The domain was/is "owned" by someone who is very MAAST friendly, but has not been active in a long while.

MAAST had a couple of VERY rocky moments, the first one very early in life, and the second one a couple of years ago. There were some struggles with leadership and hosting. Cartama (who is a small, local hosting company that specializes in vBulletin) came in and moved us over, upgraded the software, and then put a hosting package together for us that is stupid cheap (Mark, don't read this). When we need to upgrade software, he takes care of it for way less than he would charge a commercial customer.

BTW, I thought it was just me, too.

I agree. Skynet would definitely take out marine aquarists sites first.

A thousand bucks? You could buy 25 hours of my time for that sum.

FWIW, hosting is already pretty stupid cheap to begin with. Unless you need enterprise hosting and support (read: RS), you can get a good host for $10-20/month.

Also, if you think a site may be down, you can verify whether it is just you or not: http://downorisitjustme.com/

I just got off the phone with Cartama. BTW, they are charging us about $25 a month to host this site - and we are actually a fairly "large" site - not just a simple company or club website.

He said the server we are on is overloaded at certain times of day, so he's offloading an email vm tonight, to another server. This should happen tonight. That should cure the problem. He'll monitor it for the next few weeks, and see if the problem goes away.

Sweet! We shouldn't experience any down time for that, will we?
