Talking A funny post from 2 1/2 years ago: Scoring Frags

I know this is an old post, but honestly how many times do each of us do this? I for one am guilty of it, driving from one side of town to another to score a frag, many times bringing my wife and Boy (co-pilot) along for the ride. Heck, we just went with Ross and Eve to Corpus to pick up a great looking Carpet Anenome and do some quick sight seeing (thanks for inviting us by the way). My reason for bringing up a 2 1/2 year old post is to ask, have you done this as well? If so, post your story.

He tells me that we are also meeting a guy ,a guy we've never met ,in a parking lot at the opposite end of town to get some blue zoos. We pull into the parking by a restaurant and its dark. I see a guy sitting on the tailgate of his truck with ice chests in the back. This is obviously my guy right? I yell from twenty feet away "are you selling frags" The guy gives me an odd look and says no somewhat vehemently.
I go back to our truck and tell Danny it's not him, he wants to walk around and look for the guys truck. Danny's still sore from his double heart cath and we slowly walk through the parking lot looking around. We pass a man in what looks like a sheriff's uniform. We hear a man tell him that "those people" meaning us, are here to meet someone to buy drugs. We kept walking laughing and talking about it with Danny making remarks that sound like a confession until I assure him that I don't want to spend the night in jail over a misunderstanding. The sheriff looking man comes up to us and says "someone told me that you two are here to buy drugs" I quickly answer " no what I said was 'are you selling ' frags'. Danny pops off that we are reefers. Realizing what he had said he quickly explained what he meant and we did not have to sleep in separate cells.
The moral of this story is don't send two geeks to make a frag deal.

Danny said no more Friday night frag scores for him.

    Hilarious!
My frag scoring hasn't been anywhere near as funny. In the beginning my husband suspected something fishy was going on because I'd be gone for a couple of hours to get 'some really cool coral' and all I'd come back with would be some dime size little piece of something. I've been doing this now long enough for him to know though that I really do drive 90 miles round trip for a few tiny polyps of coral.

Believe me when I say, been there, done that. Here is a link to the rest of the original thread. It is so old, ErikH was considered a guest back then .

We did a Group Buy of Mag Flakes a few years back. We divided the 50# bag into smaller portions and met in a parking lot to give each participant their wares. How do you think it would have looked to that same "security guard" of us passing out bags of white powder and taking $$?

    That's funny...

The Corpus trip is the farthest we went for a coral/anemone. But we figured since it was free, we could spend the $50 in gas and still come out ahead.

I just discussed this with Erik last week. Call me crazy but unless you are close to me Id say withing 15-20miles I rarely wil drive further than that for a frag. Maybe its me being lazy or I dont want to spend the gas money for something worth a few bucks (Mostly me being lazy)

But thats now when I first got back in the hobby I drove to Austin and buda a couple of times. I dont do that anymore. Heck to drive from my house to Aces and back takes up 2hrs of time at least. Ive become one of those if im already in the area guys...
