Thread: Help with a bubble trap!

Default Help with a bubble trap!

    Hello,

I'm getting a lot of bubbles into my refugium. I'd like to decrease them. In the pic you will see there's no weires to act as a bubble trap in the sump. I'd like to add another small peice of acrylic in the skimmer section without draining it or siliconing it in place. Any ideas? Maybe I could suction cup a piece of acrylic into place. Maybe I could lay a peice of eggcrate on the sump floor with a notch that the acrylic fits into? What are your thoughts?

How high above the waterline is your skimmer output?

Do you have it euro braced up top? If not just build a little bubble trap to the exact width of your sump and slide it in. That would be the easiest way without draining the sump. Are the bubbles coming from the skimmer or the drain from the tank?

The entire output is below the water level. The instructions for the skimmer state to run skimmer in 7-8" of water.

Yes, it's Eurobraced. I'll probably need to remove the skimmer in order to wedge a piece of plexiglass in there.

If the bubbles are coming from the skimmer output, you can also fit a sponge around the output to catch the bubbles.
