You can also use a plastic drip pan with drain fitting iinstead of liner, and your bilge pump will be your backup just incase the drain fitting cloged up on you.
Reefing is just like cooking, all the ingredients have to be just right , except you don't have to bring the water to a BOIL...

Sounds like excellent planning Bill, as always. Can't wait to see it up and running.

Geez Alton. And there you seemed like such a softie -instead smacking poor fish around... Congrats, Bill, on the start over!

Love the idea of the emergency sump under the tank. Would you really need an ATS with the hiatt? That's going to be a pita to clean. Flame hawks are the best and I'm glad your thinking of adding the betta. They hide way too much, but they're beautiful fish.

I'm googling your outside ATS idea to see if I can see any examples. Is your house built into a hill? From the pics of your chiller when it was for sale, I remember it looked like it was on the ground under your deck.
Yes, we are on a hill. I was thinking an outside ATS would make things easier, not harder? But I'm afraid it will have to be elevated - as I can't see how to get it to drain back into the tank.
