Bad idea. You need to remove the water voume that sand displaced. You should add RO like normal or else you salinity will go up

This is fine, or else add them all at once but turn the pumps off first. I usually soak the sand in tank water for about 1 week before I added it into the tank. If you added live sand, just add the whole thing without rinse.

I've only done a 16oz cup.... I was a little tied up this weekend but I rinsed just the cup of sand, the bag is still live. It's looks like it threw nothing off, would be easier if I didn't have to rinse but the water was sure cloudy until my 3rd or 4th rinse..

You sure it would be alright putting in in that way?

If you have "live sand" rinse it in anything other than salt water would result in "dead sand". Live sand in a bag does not have much "live" in it so that is no big loss. If you add it as is, it will cloud up that water for a day or less and clear up with no harm done. I usually pay no attention to this.
For dry sand, I often rise it and soak them in tank water for about 1 week, they become "live sand" as sold in those plastic live sand bag. They would have a little bacterial in them, no higher form of life in those bags

Cool.... Ya I read up some more and realized I should have not bought live sand, which is why I rinsed it. I did not want to disturb anything.....
