Ok, all excitement aside..
First thing, remember when your moving this tank, everything is temperature and time sensitive. It should be the last thing you pack and the first thing you take out.
The dorm experience involves getting a key, which means your tank + inhabitants will be sitting in the car, run the AC a little cool and keep the car closed and/or running (if you want) to keep them from getting hot.
I move my corals in 4 buckets, one for each rock with coral, each bucket is half full.
As soon as you get your key, open your door and put the live stuff inside. Turn on the AC on full blast and move everything back in. Now depending on how many buckets you have, you may need to mix water. Go to aanimal wonders, RO water is like a quarter a gallon, so not too bad.
mix your salt, but in the meantime move your stuff into your tank. Usually the tank may be half full, but if your corals are submerged this is good.
salinity/ temp match your water and eventually when your good, add the water.
Make sure your RA knows your tank is under 10 gallons, and make sure he's ok with where your putting it!
good luck, if you need anything, let me know!
side note: i don't use an airstone but you could, also don't move the tank with water in it. Tanks are not designed to be moved with water in them and it would suck be be driving while your tank is busting. 5 gallon jugs+ buckets are life savers. Cover the top with a towel to keep the light out.
San Jacinto! What about you? I was planning on moving in and getting settled, then coming back later that day to actually get my tank. Good news is I move in at 10:30 in the morning so it won't be too hot. All my stuff is still on frag plugs or small rocks, (Its a small tank
) so I think that it'll be ok in some tupperware containers. Then I'll keep my fish in the five gallon bucket. The mixed water would probably help actually. I keep my SG around 1.024-1.025. Looking forward to meeting you! On another note, are you in band?
