Erik, as I understand, 2 Tbsp of Kalk per gallon is "saturated" limewater. However, my aquarium doesn't need quite that much. I've messed around with dosing a bit, and 1Tbsp per gallon keeps me where I want, plus saves me some cashYou can't really get any MORE than 2 Tbsp per gallon (without vinegar or some such) but you can always add less.

Looking into the kalk, i used to use is it and had good success with it. I also used B-Ionic. I want to make my tank as easy to maintain as possible. If most of it can be replenished through water changes id prefer that. I wont go full blown sps anyways, my consumption shouldnt be that heavy.

It doesn't get any easier than the Sea Lab kilo blocks. I'm averaging 1 every month. I was always skeptical about them but after using them for the last 6 months or year (I'm bad with time), I have no complaints. Corals look great and my calcium stays up. I have never tested alk though. I have a PH probe and PH has been constant. I have a thread on the block somewhere.
I'm also big on simple systems with little to no dosing and frequent water changes.
Ihmmm.... Thats very interesting, im gonna research it. Sure would like to know where the alk stands with those. What about magnesium, do test and dose for that or no?
