And you would be correct. Nothing but a parking lot. If you want nice camping, hit Goose Island State Park in Rockport. Huge oak trees shade the sites, clean, updated bath houses, 1800' lighted fishing pier, boat ramp. Absolutely, positively my favorite place to camp in that area. Get on the very back loop, the sites are far apart, and there are so many trees you can't see the people next to you. It's quite close to Copano Bay, great wading there if you have kids, good redfishing too at the right time of year.
Hint: if you like to fish......live shrimp cast without a weight about 11:00 at night on the lighted part of the pier will limit you out on specks in about two hours.
I can't recommend Goose Island enough. It's beautiful, quiet, affordable.
