Thread: Adding a RBTA

    Default Adding a RBTA

I have a RBTA in my sons nano that I'm about to break down soon. I wanted to put him in my DT, I am just worried about how to do so... I know he will move around some, just wondering if he will really harm other corals while searching for his spot. What can I do to minimize him doing so? Or is it just a cross fingers type of deal?...

Don't cross your fingers, it makes it very difficult to move things when you do that.Pick an area where he will get a moderate amount of flow and ample light. Then be prepared to move your coral should he go somewhere else. Short term exposure (like when he's moving around) shouldn't be a problem. It's the long term effect on some corals. I don't mind if mine takes up residence on a sheet of zoas cause they will grow in the direction the anenome isn't. But I've had long term damage done to a SPS piece or two over a week or so of exposure. Not sure if I'd be too happy if mine took up house on a rock that housed permanent sps. If that becomes an issue I'd move the rock around so that it's no longer pleasant for him. He will move.

Lol, ya well I rescaped almost the whole tank the other day. I went to pick up a cap that fell behind some rock and let's just say everything had to be rescaped afterwards.... And what should have took a few minutes took almost 2 hours... But I think he will be happy on some of the big spots I left open.... But with my luck, I will probably be rescaping again...

put a picture of clownfish on the outside of the glass right next to the are that you want the anemone to move to.

lots of patience and foot tickling

or, you could take the easy way and just move the rock it is on into the tank where you want the anemone and hope it doesnt go on walkabout...

I was totally kidding, but that may actually help get the clown away from the frogspawn as they are territorial.
