My understanding is that only some scorpions are viewable under UV/Blacklight - and our local ones aren't that kind?

YES! They are! I just dazzled my kids with a fluorescent green scorpion light-show in the kitchen. (perfect thing to do right before they have to go to bed.)

But yes! my little UV light works and those brown TX scorpions turn fluorescent green under UV light

That is awesome Karin, now you can catch em and carry them outside to eat more bugs. Another thing I found is tree lizards love to eat termites
