Some of the benefits of being a waiter, meeting folks. Talking to new folks. Reconnecting with old folks. Always a captive audience . Weekends were always off the hook, and always with a new crew.

My senior year was the best. Everyone had jobs, but only a few were full staff waiters or waitresses. AND I ALWAYS HAD MONEY IN MY POCKET!!! This is a very important aspect that should never be underestimated. Especially for a teenager.

I think I would love to do it again. But now that I'm all old and decrepid I wouldn't enjoy it quite as much.

I don't think it was the lesser responsibility.
What I meant by "no responsibilities" is that we all didn't have bills, kids, families and people to care for....not that the job didn't have responsinilities. Shoot...running for $100kcars and taking care of peoples luggage that cost more than my car was a big responsibility! Imagine if I crashed the car or scuffed the luggage..!

Allan, that's also why you had lots of money....you didn't have kids and a family to take care of.

good grief Allan. This was intended to be a fun and uplifting thread. NOT depressing.
Maybe another vacation would do you good?

40 down. 40 to go. Who knows what the future brings?! We're not dead yet...

You know I'm generally a very cheerful dude, but once in awhile I fall into a funk. I was in one about half an hour ago, but it's gone now.

    See?

Gotta go with my job waitering at Papasitos while in college. I just loved the hectic nature that waitering at a busy restaurant can offer. Time just flew by...... My current job is a lot like that, only people are far more serious when it comes to their vehicle, and its chaos all the time.... Never a dull moment.
