I was lucky I grew up with the great Roger Staubach and the dynasty of the 90's along with Earl Campbell. But if you look at what football has offered to my kids Jerry and his joke of a football team since 1999? Oh yea look at the Oilers, whoops I mean the Texans nothing there. We thought we had a chance with the San Antonio Saints but Jerry shot that one down. So why would a younger person follow football in San Antonio? And Karin is right you can sit down and watch 45 minutes of Soccer before an interruption. With football and basketball you could have 100 commercials in 30 minutes. What about the homerun derby last night the first guy gets up takes 20 minutes to get ten outs and only ten homeruns, I don't know what happened after that I got bored and changed the channel.
Because of the salary cap and overpaid athletes the NFL will never have the glory years it once did.But just cause your team isn't winning doesn't mean it's not good football. And I would rather take a bathroom break or pop a pizza in the oven during a commercial than sit for hours to watch a game of soccer with a final score of 1-0. Just my opinion....

ahhh dude...that's the "game" in it. Some of the best soccer games were low scoring games. That's when it gets intense...but as much of a soccer die hard I am I can admit that the games can be very boring unless you have something in it...favorite player, your child, favorite team, favorite country etc... kind of reminds me of baseball.
No kidding. Soccer to me is so wussified. They cry about the smallest little slide tackles just to get a penalty. Granted the NBA is kinda like that now days (which I'm not too big of a fan anymore), but these guys literally act like they got a limb cut off....drama X10. It's also hard to watch. The lack of scoring, huge playing field, and often lack of shots really drain the excitement. I remember watching indoor soccer as a kid though and being somewhat interested...at least there was action and they scored.
Football and hockey is non-stop full contact action to me. Regarding football's time in between plays (which don’t bother me at all) it adds to the anticipation of the next play and gives them time to call and set up the next play...plus there are often no huddles at the end of the game.
It's just a different lifestyle I suppose, and what you grew up with definitely plays a factor. Even baseball has more things going on than soccer - but I could understand a comparison on the tempo and logistics. Honestly, I'd rather watch water polo and lacrosse (sports I played in H.S. - great to play but ok to watch) than soccer. Only time I watch is the World Cup because of the novelty and to see if maybe I could get into it...I can't. God bless the USA and the NFL. Hopefully we will have a season this year but I'm getting concerned. Otherwise it's gonna be a long Winter.![]()

Sorry man but I disagree - because of the salary cap every team has a chance and it elevates the NFL above all the other leagues - besides better entertainment IMO. Plus most players don't make squat in the NFL (besides the super stars) compared to the other two leagues. Baseball is pretty much a joke as far as competition - though there is always the exceptional low payroll team that can make a run at it...and basketball is having their money issues as we speak.
