Default Idea for a CHEAP wavemaker...

OK, I'd seen this thing working last summer at a kiddie pool in Alamo Ranch. Yesterday, I took a photo. These things work by filling up a cone, and then when the cone gets top-heavy, it dumps the contents. This could be relatively easy to make in acrylic, with a "V" shaped box. It can't cost more than a few dollars and a cheap pump. Maybe even a giant funnel?

Aww just give it up Bill. Saltwater is calling you back (if even kiddie pools make you think of aquariums! lol)

Besides, I HAVE a SW tank. 8 gallon nano. I swear I'm hooking up the 20 gallon sump to it this weekend.

8 gal tank with 8 gal surge that would be cool .i would say a 8 sec cycle would be just right.

Yeah, I'm familiar with surge devices, and built one out of a salt bucket. It was too complex AND loud. This would be VERY simple and quiet.

    Karin - I've been back - never went away. Just DOWNSIZED from 215 to 8. (let's see, that's like a 96-97% downsizing!).
