I moved to San Antonio from out of state in April of 07. Shortly thereafter my wife decided I needed a new hobby to keep me away from video games. I had a friend and coworker that moved down here a few months before I did who had a 10 gallon freshwater setup. I hadn't kept fish since I was in elementary school, so I purchased a 20 gal setup from PetsMart. Then my friend wanted to upgrade and he started thinking about going saltwater. Then I upgraded to a 55 with the intent of going marine.

That November I was researching sand and google brought me to a crazy forum with the state of Texas as part of it's logo. Not being Texan by birth I thought it was a little odd. However, a couple months later I was in B&B and Bonnie mentioned MAAST. I had no idea what she was talking about, so I asked a few questions. Checked out the site when I got home, saw the logo, had de ja vu, and signed up. A couple months later I became a Charter Member and never looked back.

In a nut shell, I blame Captain Jack and Bonnie for my presence on MAAST.

Eve and I started with Wal-Mart fish and grew to Cichlids. Eve looked into a 20gal tank on CL in March of 2008 and the guy mentioned MAAST. His name was Tony but don't know a screen name. Eve and I looked it up and saw Ace's (hobogoto) tank and were amazed. Now we're at an eight foot 240gal system that takes up the whole wall and my wife is VP. Talk about getting hooked...
