Was I out of line?

So I am at the LFS and I see a nice leather so I ask the employee for a deal. The cost was $51. So she says $51 and I said I wanted a deal. She says I don't get a deal when I go to the mall. Was I out of line to ask for a better price? Is that the kind of Customer Service you get in San Antonio? I am just wondering.

What did it cost you to ask? Nothing. What does it cost the LFS? A sale lost to you and/or perhaps your money going to a competitor. That's business.
