    welcome to maast toney!

the choices now days are numerous, and more specifics will help make the decision. imo, the larger the sump/fuge the better. fairly common thought on return is 5 to 10 times the tanks volume turnover per hour. submersible pumps are quiet, but can heat up the water more than most externals. wait 'til you start thinking about skimmers.....

i guess i wasnt much help huh? i would suggest reading as much as you can find on the different skimmers and filtration methods before you choose.

Check out my build thread -- I had a custom sump built for the tank, as well as did the drilling myself... but this is very similar to the direction I'm taking:

    http://maast.org/forums/showthread.php?t=56111

Precision Marine up in New Braunfels makes some extremely high quality sumps, and likewise there is a great diversity of options available online (Such as Eshopps brand equipment). For a skimmer, I went with a Tunze 9010 -- I'm a big Tunze fan though, and this is very likely overkill for my tank

I'm using a Mag 9.5 for my return pump -- teed off to dual returns, with a pair of Koralia 3's and a Vortech MP10 as supplemental water movement within the display.

    Hope that helps!

    Toney, my 75 consists of:
    75g
29g fuge (just a heaping mess of sand and rock, no baffles)
    mag7 return 4' head loss
    2x koralia 4s
    1x Koralia 2
    About 200 lbs Sand
    about 200 lbs Rock
    Reef Octopus Skimmer
    Dual Stage Ca Reactor
    KW Reactor
    10g Top off reservoir
2x250w Double Ended PFO mini pendants with 10k Aqualine Buschke bulbs
1x250x Mogul based Lumenarc mini pendant with 12k Reeflux bulb
2x48" T5s with Geisemann Actinic and an Actinic + bulb
Neptune Systems AC jr. to control the madness

    Corals fear the light.

Oh, and a compact flourescent to light the fuge.

Check out Precision's website -- they should list vendors, and i know they have a product listing.. Site sponsor AquaCave has a good selection of Precision Marine and others as well..

The safer way to run heater is to split your tanks need by two. If you need 100 watts then get two 50 watt heats. You are provided a bit of wiggle room if one should fail.

I have a 65g 36x18x24, internal overflow, I run a standard 29g as a fuge, bare bottom with macro algae and a mag 7 as a return they exit out a 3/4 dual line(low flow) and inside for flow I run 2x koralia. 1x koralia 2. which makes a low to med flow in the tank
