New HP salt water laptop..lol

My 3g pico resides in my sisters room, on her desk. well last night before going to bed she threw a towel on the desk a corner of the towel made in the tank about 3 inches in, thus creating a wicking effect. water puddle and dripped about a gallon 1/2 of water on her laptop. Any body think it can be saved if i crack it open and dry it out, also if there anything anyone knows of i clean off some of internals with to keep from rusting so bad(im sure there is no way to keep all rust from forming).

i once heard of some ones car going into the ocean (dont ask ) and the ECU got wet they took it out and open it rinsed it with freshwater and it worked again .... not saying you should do that but yea....

There is a product called CorrosionX that I have used before. At their display booth at the airshows they have a TV half submerged in the stuff The TV is on and still has a good picture.
Don't know how it would work with a laptop though.

you need quickly taking to part and cleaning salt.
but if you are not a technician, thats not easy

The guy that used to own the company is Jim VanGuelder He lives in Dallas but also has a house in Chorpus Christi. I think he gave me a few cans last time I saw him. I'll look around.

I can take it apart and put it back together. If it was turned on at any point, it is fried.

I really hate working on laptops though.

Was it plugged in charging? If so, it's more than likely gone.

Yep. Probably toast.

It's not the water that gets them. It's the impurities in the water that shorts out the components. Over time the water will cause corrosion but if its pure water (0 TDS) is shouldn't fry it.
Of course this was salt water so that's a whole different story.
