    Default Is this marine ich?

I just noticed this white dot on a Yellow eye I just picked up. Does this look like the first signs of marine ich?

Yes, that's it. No flashing either.

My experiences with Ich it shows up as more than just one dot and starts on the fins.

Just a thought... maybe the single white dot is a very small flesh wound from when he was captured from the wild. Bob Fenner talked about this at the BB trip. Some puncture the gill to release pressure as the fish is brought to the surface.... though that's not really the gill on your fish.

Thanks all... not sure what it was, but it is not there today. I'll just keep watching him.

Depending on what you keep in the tank with it you may want to think of a cleaner fish or shrimp and maybe even a UV sterilizer if you don’t already have them. My wife’s 75gal FOWLER used to get a break out about once a quarter till I got her a UV sterilizer and that cut it down to less than once a year, around November when the temp would start dropping. Two years ago we got a cleaner fish or shrimp for each of our tanks and that cut the ick out all together haven’t had any trouble since. If you go with a cleaner fish just brace yourself for the first time it goes half way into the other fish gills its quite an interesting sight. In addition to ich they help with all sorts of other fish cooties I used to see.

Thanks for the advice. I do have a UV steralizer running, but no cleaner fish. Any good recommendations for cleaner fish?
