I was going to start a 10 nano. I got the rock the sand and the water in the tank. The heater broke in the tank! What now? Can I still use the tank and the rock?
Thanks
Dustin

OH MAN i had that problem once and when the black stuff leaked out everything died
Nothing leaked out that I saw! On the top of the heater it says Penn-Plax and thermaflow "PC"! It has a clay plug with a spring coil wrapped around it! Here is the link to the heater. Looks like the same parts but mine was alittle older! Just the glass broke! There is another little glass bulb looking thing in the middle that didnt break! The heater was plugged in! I unplugged it as fast as I could move! There were a few sparks coming from the heater! Thanks for the help!

It should be fine, just try to get all the glass out. I blew up my Therma-Tech in my return chamber last week-end and everything is doing fine. (the internal rods fell out, but nothing black) One of those duh moments. Never, never, never plug in the heater before the tank is full of water. The incoming cold water blew up the heater.... and I knew better!
