    Default Lycopod Goby

I bought a lycopod goby (i'm guessing 3 in.) and a 6 line wrasse yesterday (lil guy). I expected the wrasse to be intimidated and warm up to the bigger fish. What I expected and what really happened is unreal. The lycopod goby is hiding behind a rock and has refused to come out. I am positive the two fish don't have a problem with each other but am really curious if thi goby is known for its shyness. I must admit I was talked into the goby and knew nothing about him except he has a gorgeous golden body and fins. I have searched the web and can only find this link below. If anyone knows about this kind of goby or can find it on a website that includes info on him, that'd be great! Thanks to all.

Lycopod gobies, brotulas, whatever you want to call them, are incredibly shy. They're nocturnal, actually, and their survival rate in the aquarium is rather dismal, I'm afraid.

Almost all gobies and blennies are very shy. It comes from being very small and defenseless. Most all non-swimming fish will behave this way. Some that camouflage well may stay out in the open more than others.

Hey, don't sweat it. I guarantee that sometime in the course of this hobby nearly everyone has bought something that they didn't know much about. Heck, I know I did it when I first started out!
Btw, you might be interested to know that a lycopod "goby" isn't closely related to gobies at all, but is actually a type of brotula. It's also a livebearer, if I remember correctly!
