    Default convert a wet/dry

I'm looking for advice on how to convert my wet/dry to a fuge style sump. I was thinking of removing the upper acrylic cube and adding a piece of pvc that goes down into the sump and into a filter bag. I could then use the rest of the space for cheato since I'm having some problems with nitrate and cyano. Adding the pvc pipe doesn't seem to be difficult. I can drill some holes in it and tie the filter bag to it. How do I keep it from falling over? Here are some pics.

I am kind of in the same situation. I think what I would do in your situation is keep the cube and modify it to hold sock. I would use the level were the blue and white filter is and put a custom cut acrylic peace to hold sock that way the water will fall into sock from the top then drill holes in the peace that way if sock gets clogged it can still have a way to drain into fuge. just take the bottom peace out of the cube so sock has room to hang down. Well good luck please post your final product. It might be able to help out with mine.

Good Idea. If I remember some filter socks come with a plastic ring around them. I think the filter sock would take up 6" at the most. How can I use the rest of the space for some cheato and a light?

Most people are putting the skimmer before the fuge portion. I would add another baffle to the area that currently houses the skimmer to make a smaller return area. The important thing to remember there is that the return area is the area where you need to watch due to evaporation. So, don't make that area too small.

yes they come in diff sizes I seen some on marine depot that are 4 inchs I think you can use all the space that is left for the cheato You should be able to put the light over the little section that is open next to the cube thats if you are planing on using a small light. Dont think cheato needs much light.
