Acrylic does scratch easily, but small scratches can be removed from inside and outside with the tank filled, as long as you can reach the scratch easily. You use a special set of wet/dry sandpaper called micromesh; it's 9 or 10 grits ranging from 1500 to 12000. It works perfectly, but it is a little labor intensive and there's a bit of a learning curve.
