    Default Bicolor Blenny...what's your experience?

So I just picked up a Bicolor blenny for my reef and I love him.

Lots of character. I was hesitant about buying him because I have heard they can be aggressive and possibly nip at stonies and inverts...but they are supposed to be reef safe and peaceful.

    So.....What's your experience?

Mine is doing fine after the first 4 hours and seems to be able to take care of himself and isn't picking on anything. He has already made a home for himself in the mid area of my reef inside a hole of my foam rock scape.

    Thanks,

Our bicolor blenny has been very hearty and personable; entertaining to watch, not at all shy, and has a very healthy appetite. Gets along with everyone in the tank, with a couple of wrestling matches for dominance between him and our lawnmower blenny. Hasn't bothered corals that I've noticed, except when he decides to perch on something and momentarily irritates it. Does graze on the algae on rocks, which includes the coraline kind.

    FWIW,

My wife purchased one about 6 months ago. The first thing it did was run the gramma out of its cave. It perched on a rock high above our clams and start nipping then. He currently is the bully of the tank. My wife loves him so we keep him. Not saying this will happen but I would keep a watchful I eye on him.

Thanks for the replies from both of you. Seems this thread is getting the same results as my "google research" from other forums.

Hopefully mine will be like Kristy's! I haven't seen any problems yet.

Just lots of character....very fun to watch! He bars up when he is stressed or protecting his hole.

We had the same issue with our research. Like everything else in this hobby it depends on the temperament of the individual fish. Best of luck!

My bicolor blenny does great in my tank! I haven't had any problems with him yet. Been there for about 3 months now. Very active!
