    Default Fuge lighting question

I recently set up refugium in my sump with some of this green grass stuff (can't remember name) I got from B and B and also a few mangroves. I put my old pc light from my old deco 3 nano tank on it and I need to know how long to leave it on. Some say 24 hours a day and others have said to have it turn on when the display lights go out, what do I do?? Oh and maybe it's just me being crazy but it appears that my water clarity got way better with this new addition, has anyone else notices similar results or am I being crazy?

Mine runs 24/7, but most i think use the reverse cycle of the display lights. Most use the reverse cycle to prevent or minimize PH fluctuations from day/night.

Yeah, I run a reverse cycle. My fuge light comes on just a little before the main tank lights turn off at night and stay on through the morning until they come back on. I got my two mangroves from B&B as well awhile back. Took alittle while for them to do anything, but now their roots have taken hold and they are growing new leaves.

i've ran both reverse and 24/7. Currently am running 24/7. Cheato growth is out of control. Not really concerned with pH fluc because of kalk reactor usage (prolly should be).

    hope that helps.

    cheers,

I use an outdoor compact flourescent light fixture from Home Depot. Their made out of plastic and are fairly cheap. Mine is missing the cover for it so some the reflector is starting to corrode from the salty air. I had a lot of feather culerpa until the cheato took over.
