Rimless tanks get bad salt creep?

Friend of mine has been looking into ordering a rimless 75 gallon glass and the sales person was trying to talk him out of getting rimless. She said that unless he wants to clean salt creep off a couple times a day he should avoid rimless. Anyone with rimless have this experience?

Alot of stuff does collect at the water's surface, but I would highly doubt it's as bad as that lady made it seem.

Im with Erik on this one, I cant be that bad. If you have fish that like to spalsh like mine the maybe.

I 've noticed most people with rimles tank generally don't fill the the water all the way to the top. So I doubt salt creep would be that much.

Why would you get more salt creep than any other normal tank anyway?

I don't know. I guess it's possible if you have too much water in your tank. I didn't hear the conversation he had with the sales person from Glass Cages, but she was very adamant about advising him not to get rimless he said, though she also said for him not to get starphire glass either because "you probably are used to having the green tint of regular glass & won't like the starphire". Maybe she really didn't feel like taking an order/working today?

Sounds like they need a new salesperson! I agree, I don't see why it would have more salt creep than a regular tank. The rim on a regular tank only helps provide support and maybe keep water from spashing out, but it doesn't cure salt creep. Now I have a sump/fuge that doesn't have a rim around the top and it gets salt creep in a couple spots, but that is only because that is where the drains are and it creates splashing on the sides.

What she meant was "I recognize that you sound very convinced you'd like to purchase product A. I can't currently fulfill your request and, in light of you purchasing elsewhere, I'll convince you to buy a product that I have readily available.

Quite honestly, the amount of salt creep that occurs in your display is probably a percentage point or two out of the total amount occuring throughout your system. Moreover, this minute amount is typically limited to the overflows. Rimless or rimmed...should make no difference.

There wont be any more salt creep on a rimless tank than on one with a rim... you might notice it in places that you might not have on a tank with trim, but if you're like I am, you wipe down the rim pretty regularly anyways...

Saying you wont like starphire because you're used to green is like saying you wont like metal halides because you're used to power compacts. Pretty bad business to talk you out of something that is an upgrade you mentioned you wanted, especially when it benefits the final system...

That's what I thought. I think they were just trying to sell something now instead of later.
