    Default Camping

Im going camping on Oct 6th and 7th and am looking for camping location suggestions. I do not mind driving 2-3 hours outside of SA. Would prefer to camp on a River; not a lake. Anyone have any suggestions?

Are you planning on tubing down the river? We figured out the least expensive way to do it. We bought our own tubes, and paid 7 dollars to park in the big park right next to Schlitterbahn. You get in the water there and float for around 2- 2 1/2 hours, get out at the last exit, and its about a 2 block walk back to the entrance point. We camped on the Guadalupe side, which was nice because no one was on it so it was really nice!

Edit: If you EVER get the chance go to Big Bend National Park. It's a long drive, but man, it is awe-inspiring!

I heard Enchanted rock was really cool, but want to float on the river. Sounds like a good time erik; I will look into that. My buddy wants to go to Garner State Park; anyone been there?

Try Lost Maples. Nice park with small # of campsites. Or you can try Garner State park. It's on the Frio River. Really nice park.

I second Enchanted Rock. LOTS of fun stuff to do there....just sans river. There is a creek that runs through the front but never really has water in it. It will be really nice in October when its cooler.

For Non-State Parks, there are a few campsites out on River Road in New Braunfels, but the river is too high to have too much fun.

Might want to check Garner State Park and see how the Frio is flowing.

Lost Maples is to die for! I totally forgot about that place!!!! GSP is a great 1 too. I check this site out every once in awhile to see what's poppin' around the state. It would be nice to camp 1 day go to an event, and another float down the river till you can't walk straight anymore
