Don’t get me wrong; when I’m old and retired I would enjoy the opportunity to serve as a juror. But right now....nightmare.
No I didn't. I refused to leave my stuff unsupervised. The police officer asked the clerk to find an alternative juror rather than argue with me further. I went and sat back down in the juror selection room.

Funny thing is, I wanted to serve on a jury. It's not like I have anything else to do, it would be good life experience for me and a great story for me to tell my kids once school resumes.

I've been summoned as a Juror and Subpoenaed as an expert witness for trial on the same case at the same time. Judge wouldn't excuse me, made me sit through the whole ordeal and forced the defense to strike me.

what is wrong with you. how fun do you really think the court process is. if they really want me there they will send a certified letter. i can give a thousand better things to do before i'll sit it on a trial for 6 bucks, i even earn administrative time if i serve. still not worth it, would rather be at work.

It's not like they were fresh out of jurors. The judge knew you would make a great juror for the state while the defense had to scramble and find a new expert. Good example of judges having too much power. I've seen them do some heinous things, things that would make most men blush.

As a witness? Call before you show up. Typically the date of appearance is the date trial starts. The actual day they need you could be several days away. They still have to pick a jury, etc.

First of all there are many, MANY things wrong with me but that's neither here nor there.

I am a teacher and sometimes I get bored during the summer. This would both provide me the opportunity to stay busy and have an experience that I can bring back into the classroom. As well, there is a sense of self satisfaction and knowing that you served you civic duty. I'll be the first to admit that there are many other things that I'd rather be doing but on the flip side, I'd rather be in jury duty than doing certain things as well.

I am the one that the state is prosecuting for. It is for the guy that broke into my house last summer. It should be an open and shut case. The sheriff advised me to call and see when and even IF they'll actually need me.
