Actually a couple reasons- 1. My sump is rather high and to get the stand in the door it needed a pedastal to get the right height. 2. I wanted more access to my sump. 3. Price- Im sure is higher but didnt check as I doubt they would have built it the way I wanted it. 4. I wanted it to be overbuilt. Like survive a earthquake overbuilt and I have yet to see a manufactured stand that is built to my likeing.
Those were my main driving points to avoid a manufactured stand.

All three(well four counting this one) of my stands that I have bought have needed leveling. One was all glass, one oceanic and one I dont know what it was. The issue Im running into is the whole 8 foot length. Its about 1/4 of an inch off on the front right side. At 4 foot that is only 1/8th of an inch. It wouldnt really be noticeable to most people but with a wavebox I made sure this is level. Plus Im what my girlfriend calls a perfectionist with little stuff like this.![]()
Also the house is already 12 years old and I know the floors have been redone so that could be an issue.
Edit- I think I answered all the questions. lol
