Very nice setup. Can you post some pictures of the sump and fish room?

Thanks everyone. I am excited to see it develop.

I finally got around to getting some shots of the sump and fish room. I just ask that you keep in mind that cord management is still underway. lol.

First one is full shot of fish room.

So my sump theory is pretty basic I think, even though the mounds of cords would tell you different .

The first chamber is just 2 7" socks that I pull every three days if they are in. Some days I don't use them, it really depends on how the tank looks. The return is full of pineapple sponges, it is really awesome how many there are.

The second chamber holds some live rock and 3 marine pure blocks (4x4X8). The lights are rarely on in the sump so it seems to act as a kind of cryptic fuge. There are tons of sponges and feather dusters down in there. There are also 3 small hermits. I just put in some larger shells for them so it looks like more. I let detritus settle here and decompose for the most part, I have not cleaned it since the tank has been up. Detritus can only decompose and release basic compounds like nitrates and phosphates for so long and then it becomes inert, at least that is my understanding.

The third chamber is for skimming and passive carbon.

The fourth chamber is the return. Thats where the cord mess begins. haha.

I run 2 reactors, one for calcium and one for zeolite rocks.

I also run some filter floss in the baffles to help polish the water, which is difficult with a bare-bottom tank and lots of tangs that eat and poo all day long. There are always bits and pieces of something in the water and the only way to make it look really clean is aggressive mechanical filtration. I don't usually run the socks, skimmer and filter floss at the same time because it strips the water of nutrients quickly so I mix how I use them or if I use them at all. I do keep the skimmer on all the time so its more the socks and filter floss.

Feel free to ask questions if I didn't explain something. Thanks!
