Dumb Clown Question

I acquired a pair of clowns that have been together for over a year when I purchased a used tank (not sure if they are percula or ocellaris although they do have the lower dorsal fin and the orange eye ring). Dropped them into a cycled 50 gallon tank I had vacant and they have been happily swimming and eating for several weeks until yesterday. Now the female is spending most of her time in a small cave in the LR and the male is joining her. When I walk up to the tank they will both shoot out and then swim back into their cave. I am thinking they may be planning on spawning. Does this make sense? Clowns are not my specialty, feel free to laugh at me.

I think I answered my own question. I was finally able to get a clear view of their behavior and they are picking the rock clean.
