Yeah man it was bad when I left in 99. My wife and I went back sometime in 05 and I could not believe how "ice" had taken over the island. Really was crazy. A lot of this isn't seen in the tourist areas...but as you get comfortable and venture into local spots it's pretty intense. All of my friends were family and local natives to the island so maybe I was desensitized to it all before. I don't know. But when I went back it was not the same Hawaii that I grew up in.

Lots of good memories though....but just couldn't see myself raising my family there.
