40 breeder setup

So i was setting up my 40 long and was very happy with the way everything was coming together. As i was rearranging my first pieces of live rock in the tank it cracked from top to bottom spilling water all over the carpet (thank goodness for a water carpet cleaner which saved the day). Well i wasnt going to give up(well i was but when i woke up i decided against that) so i bought a tank from a MAAST member and started from scratch. What follows is my almost month long journey to get everything just like i wanted it. Its not the best setup ever built but it is the most complete setup i have built and has the most gadgets i have ever had.

Sump and all the goodies including Jebao WP25 controller, ATO , Coralife 65 skimmer, turbo twist 18 uv sterilizer, fluval 205 hooked up to provide flow to sterilizer, BRS carbon and GFO Reactors, Geismann 150w Metal Halide running Phoenix 14k bulb, rapid led kits with blue, royal blue and red leds

What are using the aqua lifter for? I see the 1gallon slim profile container it's pulling from. Kalkwasser or just plain make up water?

Just plain rodi water right now because I'm gone long hours so I needed to make sure that I always had a backup. My house runs warm and evaporation has always been an issue in my tanks.
