29 Biocube cycle
So I'm back into the hobby after a few years. I have 30lbs of dry rock, dry sand and 3lbs of live rock to seed the tank. After a week ammonia spiked and then nitrites shortly after. After about 2.5 weeks levels are zero and nitrates are 20ppm. Still waiting for diatom bloom. How can it have cycled this fast??? Either way gonna play it safe and not add a clean up crew till about week 5, then MABYE a fish after a few more weeks after that. One thing I remember about this hobby is a lot of patience and a lot of reading.

Try adding something to start the bloom. Maybe a small piece of shrimp or some fish food. Just something. Even a couple of hermits wouldn't hurt. If you had enough live rock that you seeded with you might not have that big of a bloom. When I moved from my 14 gallon to my 29 cube I had only used 2 pieces of the original rock and the rest were dry. I added new live sand and water from the 14 to help reduce the cycle. I moved all fish and corals right over with no problems.
