Thread: Best way to sell?

    Default Best way to sell?

So I have a 100 gal reef tank set up... And I'm just not enjoying it any more. So what's the best way to sell? It's full of water sand and live rock, do I try to start by selling off the remaining fish and LE then break it down and sell components? Try to sell it in one big lot? Is big and very heavy so just being it out of the house is a big job. I'm not sure where to start with something like this.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Usually tanks sell better aa separate parts, livestock first then partouts of equipment but every once in a while a full ssetup will sell.

    Default Best way to sell?

If you're going to sell it here on MAAST, must be a charter member.

Agreed as stated above, you can try to sell it as one big lot, most of the time these dont sell unless it will come very, and I mean very cheap. Especially if you use CL or FB as a way to sell it off. You will sell it alot faster if you start with Livestock sell off first, then to sand and LiveRock, then equipment and tank, etc, etc, etc.

Thanks all! I can see this isn't going to be easy. Very odd rule on the sales forum here on maast. I'll have to see if the old account I had on here is still open. If not then I guess cl will have to work.

Selling on MAAST is a privilege that is provided as part of a charter membership. Our charters enjoy that perk while also keeping the club afloat.

PM me about your old account and I *might* be able to help you recover it.

First... I though by charter member, you meant founding member, that's why it didn't make sense to me. You really just mean a dues paying member, which I would encourage folks to do as this is a valuable resource and it does cost money to keep these things going. That said, I'll see about sending you a pp this evening. Don't worry about the old account. It was long ago and I don't think it had much activity anyway.

Secondly, I talked to the wife last night. The beautiful young lady that has been complaining about my tank for the last few years, all of a sudden wants it to stay! Very odd, but um.. okay.

Now instead of selling a tank, I'm going to have to figure out how to fix the flipping water! 10% water changes just ain't fixing it... Red, red, red... Time for drastic measures. If it ain't going out the door, then it's at going to have to look good, one way or another.

    Thanks again,
    Mike

Good deal. Always hate to see people get out of the hobby.

Dude I've turned my old reef from a graveyard to something beautiful with water changes and patience, it can be done!

Well I know water changes are supposed to be the key to it all... We'll see. I think I'm going to do about 40 gals at once, then follow up with 20 gal a week until I get into normal ranges. I was also thinking about removing and cleaning the live rock. There seems to be a lot of "stuff" in between the rocks. I suspect that's one of the reasons the water is so far out of whack. I got some cheeto a while back, but it just died off, so that didn't help any. If you have any magic tips water cleaning tips... Let me know.
