    Default Painting a room

I think I killed my fish :-(... I was painting the babies room where the fish tank is which I setup for the baby. But when I woke up in the morning both my powder brown tang and my mandarin are dead. Could the fumes from the paint kill them? No paint got in the tank because I covered it before I painted. Will my zoas suffer the same fate? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, fumes could be the issue. Are you running carbon? Was everything running still, all covered up? Could oxygen have been a problem? Not sure considering the zoas. Water change may help if the water is polluted or contaminated.

It is hard to say for sure the fumes built up To toxic levels and killed you fish, but it could be a factor in their death. Sorry for your loss. For your corals, I would do a water change to be on the safe side and test your water to see what the levels are. Also I would get a poly filter pad and run it in your sump or tank. It will change colors and tell you if it is pulling out any impurities from your tank.

yes, everything was running while covered up expect the lights. When i finished painting, I removed the plastic after I finished painting which was maybe about 4 hours. I am always running carbon, i hope with the water change everything should go back to normal.
