I looked at the picture of the tank in your other thread, and that is a tough tank to figure out.

Hmm... If it is Oceanic you could be in luck. As far as I can recall Oceanic didnt use tempered glass on the sides, and for the most part not on the bottom. But, that is not for sure.
thanks for the feedback, good info, are you familiar with natures view oceanic?
I was informed that it might be natures view oceanic but still dont know if its tempered or not

Is the glass in my aquarium tempered?
The bottom pane of glass on all Oceanic tanks (drilled or not) is tempered except for the Ultimate series and custom drilled tanks. The sides, fronts, and backs are not tempered. Please keep in mind that any drilling of the tank or alteration from its original manufactured state will void the warranty.
Hope this help.

Hitting a tempered tank is NOT a good idea...
Some of you may recall that I worked in a LFS long before most of you were born (60s and 70s). In the early 70s, they first started making tempered tanks. We had a 55 set up in the front of the store (this was a huge store - over 1000 tanks of fish). Lenny, one of the owners kept a hammer under it. When a regular customer would come in, he'd say "hey, you want to see something cool?", and he'd show them the tank, and wack it with a hammer. Unfortunately, he didn't know that tempered glass takes only so much abuse... On Tuesday night (SW stock came in on Tuesday), our best customer came in. Obviously, Lenny wanted to show him the tank. Lenny hit the tank with a hammer, and it shattered in a million pieces, and 55 gallons of water gushed out, all over both of them. "Yeah, Lenny, that's COOL!".
