20g FOWLR

Its been about 6 weeks now since adding livestock to the tank. Added the chromis first. Then the blenny and finally the orchid dottyback. Now im planning the next upgrade. I got a drilled 29g from Malofish a couple of weeks ago and cleaned it up today. Next week is vacation and then time to build a stand. I will be using a taotronics led for lighting and my current 20g will be used as a sump and some rock I got from sdunn. Just have to find a baffle kit and decide on what pump to use as a return. Any advice on making a sump out of my 20g tall and advice on return pump would be great. I want lots of flow and am thinking a sicce 9 or something close. Will be using the maxijet closed loop as a carbon reactor. Let me know what yall think. Also let me know if anyone has any sand they want to get rid of. Thanks!

Came home today and found my algae blenny was dead. Very disappointed. He was fine a couple of days ago. Water parameters are spot on. Even low nitrates. I don't test phosphates. I did have an algae bloom because of over feeding a couple of times, but a 5 gal water change stopped it quick. I do 2.5 gal changes every 2 weeks. I will be doing water changes every week now for a while. The Chromis are quite happy, and the Orchid Dottyback is fat and happy. Hopefully they will stay that way.

Sorry to hear about the Blenny. They do good in established aquariums with lots of live rock to graze on.

I agree. A 20g is a little bit on the small side for a sailfin blenny. Tail spot and barnacle blennies would probably do better in that size of tank. Sorry for the loss.

Agreed! Too bad the wife talked me into selling it. That's ok. Petco will have another $1 per gallon sale im sure. Ben and Ramsey, My daughter says she saw a bristle worm messing with him a few days before he died so I wonder if that may have had something to do with it. Thanks for those recommendations Ramsey. Im liking the tail spot blenny. But no more fish for a little while. Im going to wait till the 29g is set up.
