"TEFLON DON"
Think that's the problem.... A lot of ppl tend to skip the water changes....
I do bi weekly, tried skipping a couple of times but it just led to issues.

I do small 5% WC's a week. I noticed all my corals were much happier. Better polyp extension and colors. They make the difference. I've been noticing more and more people doing larger water changes in less frequent amounts with success like those guys in the video. Seems to work. Still feel like it would cause some sort of shock.
I'm still doing my bi-weekly.

Total water volume in my system- tank, sump/fuge approx ~60 gallons. I do weekly 5g water changes.
So in total 20 gallons per month or 33%

All I need to do is fly my water from Australia's reef and I can do 95% water changes! Lol. I do water changes every 2 weeks 15g. and I'm running Gfo,bio pellets
back when i had the 240 sps dominant tank (400 gallon twv) with an ozone generator, the orp was higher when i did 5 gallon water changes twice a week than when the ozone was on.

I'm still doing a 10-15% change once per week. Helps keep my params stable for me. I despise dosing because I always forget.
I started the weekly changes after talking to ObiWonAce for several years.

I've had the best luck with weekly or bi-weekly small water changes. HOWEVER, I think a lot of this has to do with the parameters of the make up water. For example, if the alk level in your make up water is 12dkh and your tank is 7dkh, you're most likely going to cause an alk spike if you're doing a 30% water change (i'm too lazy to do the math). I think that this may not be an issue if you don't have an SPS tank but your corals probably still won't like it much.
