High nitrates??

I bought API nitra-sorb to help with my nitrates nothing on the web said not to use in salt water but when I got it in on the pack it says for fresh water... Can I still use this or will it hurt my saltwater fish?

I saw this too but steered away because I couldn't get any definite answers. I wanted to keep it on hand for an emergency plan.

I'm gonna tag along and see what folks have to say about it.

API website refers to it as a freshwater product with no mention of SW.

API Nitra-zorb cannot be used in Saltwater. The reason for this is if you read the instructions on it, it tells you that the media is rechargeable for a few uses (I cant remember how many). In order to recharge it you soak it and a solution of water with salt in it, which essentially the nitra-zorb releases all the captured nitrates allowing it to be able to absorb more once placed in freshwater again.

Cobalt aquatics makes a product that just came out called Anti-nitrate. This product works in fresh or saltwater (including reef environments)

Nitra-Zorb can be used in freshwater aquariums containing aquarium salt and in Rift lake cichlid aquariums. Nitra-Zorb will not work in saltwater aquariums. brightwell makes a export no-3, emily uses all the bright well lil cubes on her tank and they work well. ive used the export phosphate on my tank and also works well. Louis had some last i saw, also dont forget to buy microbactor to seed them as you need to soak them for 24 hours with tank water and microbactor. i just ran them in a media bag. in a low flow area in sump.
