    Default Oversizing a skimmer

I'm contemplating getting a skimmer rated for way over what my total volume is going to be. Since I'm doing a FOWLR + reef + display fuge, I want something that can SKIM. I'm only going to keep softies and maybe a few LPS in the reef tank. The one I'm looking at is rated for around 500Gl. It's the RLSS 12-u. Any disadvantages to oversizing your skimmer?

I run a NAC9 on my 105. A little overrated. They do say to oversize them to begin with.

I run a seaside cs-2 with sicce psk1000 on a 150. it's nice having that cushion to fully stock a tank.

Yeah, I know to oversize a little, but I'm wondering if there are any negatives to oversizing drastically. The skimmer I'm looking at is rated for 500G-800G:

    Default Oversizing a skimmer

Seems like one serious skimmers ...there's no such thing over skimming ...I hve always gone twice the atleast to begin with ......not only its takes care of nutrients but more oxygen runs through ur system with big skimmer ....only thing I Wana mention that I hve never heard about this skimmer amd I guess the price is around 1g.....I hope U hve research about this skimmer ..also reef octopus has a very gud line of large volume skimmers .....
Also Mrc or percision marine skimmers r top of the line aswell for this volume size tank u hve ....these skimmers works best with a strong gud feed pump ...just my opinion
    Thanks

Yeah, they're a new company out of Canada. I've read many reviews and haven't been able to find anything bad about them. I'm looking at the Reefocto as well, but I want one with a DC pump. MRC skimmers look nice but I wouldn't buy anything from PM again. They make good stuff but I had a bad experience with them in the past (customer service).
