I work with Allan's wife and she was telling me about this puppy that came into her daughter's (Milly) office that had been hit by a car. They all pitched in to remove his leg. His name is Lego. We adopted him, and he's about the same age as my son, 2 1/2 years old. He's the best dog with my son. My son will stand on him, pull his tail, grab his face, and Lick'em Lego does only that. He's the happiest dog I have ever owned. It always takes people a few minutes to realize he's missing a leg, and he can run faster than I can in full sprint. We play chase in the backyard, and we can never catch him.

I know somebody who named her dog Peonya - similar reasons. Sounds cute though - like a flower.

This is Callie, our very special special-needs golden retriever.

We adopted Callie from the Golden Retriever rescue group who intervened when her original owners took her to Animal Control after 6 years (!) and asked to have her put down for being too aggressive. I don't think there is such a thing as an aggressive golden, but this one is so excessively sweet and loving, very laid back, and showed all the passive startle responses of a dog who's been abused. She had some significant health issues and I don't think they wanted to / could pay for her care so they were having her put down.

Over the past couple - three years we have come to understand the full extent of her health issues. She is diabetic and is now blind, requires special food and insulin shots promptly every 12 hours. On top of the 4K it cost to get her emergency services to save her life and get her properly diagnosed, we spend about $250/month on all her meds and special food. Guess that's love!

I don't know what I would do without my Rebel. He gives us hell though. He is an amazing smart dog though. We recently went on a cross country road trip; my fiancé my dog and I. We went to Disney world and would leave our dog in the room, come back at lunch let him out and wear him out than go back to Disney world. Well one day the maids decited to open the door even with a huge sign on the door and telling the front desk. Let him out didn't even look for him or call us. We showed up and the people in the room below us told us they let him out and didn't do anything. We found him 2 miles down the road playing in aligator infested water.
    scariest moment in my life.
