    Default DR Tim's

so I'm going to try some of his other stuff that I had talked about with Dr. Tim. I am very happy with results from waste away so I'll using Eco-Balance and NP-Active pearls on my tank. I got refresh to use on a friends tank, his tank is still "young" but has some cyano and other lil things.

phosphates will be checked with a Hanna checker today they where at .05(gfo is 5 weeks old) I let gfo exhaust to really test it out. I need a new nitrate test kit will get one ASAP.

not really a quick fix, for this stuff to work properly needs to be used weekly, water changes, and a good skimmer. the pro biotics is a strain of good bacteria to push out the bad ones. so if I stop using it ill be back to where I was. the pearls I choose to switch to because dr Tim actually states what's in them and who makes them(in USA) so no mysterious bio pellets.

as of last Monday the 3rd I added the bio pearls and doing as instructed with adding waste away to seed them directly to reactor pump. I did keep 30ml of my old pellets to help seed them. also because I've been using bio pellets I felt no reason to do half dose then up it later, if you have never run pellets your tank will do some funky things if you run full dosage amount. phosphates where at .06 which was to be expected due to gfo taken offline. it should take about 2 weeks for phosphate levels to start to come down as states by dr tim.

before this I had to run gfo to keep phos in check I want to see if I go by what dr Tim's instructs if I can get phos down. it would be savings of 20 dollars every month in the amount of gfo needed for my tank.

I still have not picked up a nitrate kit, sorry finals last week so I've been busy.
cyano is under control also, dosing the Eco-balance has cleaned up the water clarity and coral look happier. yes I said happier polyp extension is better, and other lil things I catch because how we I know my coral lol. over all everything is doing well skimmer is pulling more nasties out than before.

I would've thought the cyano would've bloomed with the bump in po4. It good to see the Eco balance kept it in check!

cyano is one of those mysteries, but articles I read state it feeds off an acid and when neutralized it knocked out. coral snow which I have used also, states it neutralizes that acid. I don't think it's the bump in po4 is the cause but the excess waste build up in the system. other cyano treatments use a oxidizer I believe

eco balance is just beneficial bacteria that is suppose to out compete bad bacteria so it's like a recharge
