    If u wanna save and go green, do what I do. I run my 500+hp diesel on vegetable oil. Ive saved over $20,000 in 4 years in fuel alone.....

    I've appraised many homes with solar panels. Meritage Homes has a neighborhood where most of the homes have solar panels. $23K for a 2.2KW system. Another home I did last week, the lady had a bid for a 6KW system for about $17K. She said that she was using the company that many of the CPS employees use - but I don't recall the name. Out of pocket for her was about $5700, with an estimated payback in about 6 years.

    For a comparison, we have an 8KW generator on our boat - and we have to be particular about what is one, when it is taking the load. I'm not sure how much a 2.2KW system would really contribute.

    Here's the problem with solar: Electricity is cheap in San Antonio. This makes it particularly hard to pay.
