Thread: Dry rock introduction.

    Default Dry rock introduction.

Hello maastards, I have a really dumb question but I wanted to make sure before I do it. I bought maybe 40lbs of dry rock about a month ago. So being that it is dry I put it all inside a tank of circulating saltwater and made it cycle so I could kill off anything so it will not die in my aquarium. Now the rock has finished cycling and I wanted to know if I could put all 40 lbs into my aquarium? Or do I still put 1 piece and wait?

You can put it all. Don't use any of the old water though. Did you treat or clean the rock with anything or just let it cure?

I just let it cure besides putting prime into it. And thank you that is exactly what I thought.

Ok, so essentially the same thing as BRS sells. Have you tested the curing water for phosphates? That kind of dry rock has the potential to leech phosphates into your tank for a long time. Some people cure the rock extra long and some people, myself included, have used lanthanum chloride (pool phosphate remover) to help treat the phosphates while curing.
