Just curious if anyone does?? I haven't but going to pull it out rinse and clean it just to be on safe side. Am I being too paranoid??

No, you're not being paranoid. What kind of ATO do you have? Gravity, float switch? It is advised to clean your float switches periodically to prevent a failure.

Any ATO with a float switch take out and clean often or at least when you do your water changes. Salt creep will eventually cause a failure and you will overflow or at lease dump to much fresh water in at one time. Been there done that....

which brings up another point...your top-off container should not be able to overflow your sump in the event the entire container was emptied into the sump due to a malfunction. This has happened to me before. So that may change the size of your water container or the water level at which you run your sump.
I second that. I was going to use my RODI storage to feed directly to my sump, then realized in the event something failed, I would flood my sump and crash the salinity. I changed to a 5g bucket filled about 75%.
