    IMO

Ive run mag pumps for years and have not had any problems from heat do to using them, as well as countless other reefers. I sware by them.

The temp you keep your house and where you have the tank can influrence temps also. My house is always 74-75 year round which helps keep the tank temp stable. airflow over the surface of the water both of the aquarium and the sump is important.

Id buy a cheap clamp fan from walmart and attatch it in your stand to blow in the sump. ive done this on several aquariums and it helps alot. computer fans really do not move enough air to cool the water. i put my fans on a timers.

ive kept aquariums of all sizes over the last 10years+ and have never needed a chiller...

I might have to, I also got the Mag used. However, I unplugged the powerheads for about 20 minutes and dropped 2 degrees. I'm going to run them in pairs over night for the next 2 nights and see the results.

I'll probably do that Ray. A $10 fan is worth testing IMO.

The cycle has been complete for a little while. I added the CUC a couple weeks ago. I now have a YMG, yay. I also picked up a chiller so my heat issues are solved. The fan simply was not enough to evap cool the water. I needed something like 8+ degree drop. Was running about 80 with no lights on. The Apex does a good job of regulating the chiller. If you have the means, get a controller, highly recommended.
