Anyone with a lot more technical knowledge on electronics? I was wanting to add a little 3v led for a moon light, but i dunno if there is some kinda resistor i can add in line with my 12v feed to drop it down?

Ok, What I would give to talk to an EE right now. Does anyone with a good bit of electrical knowledge care to help with this experiment?
My leds are too bright hehe <insert Tim Taylor joke here> but my drivers are not dimmable, so the theory is to install a resistor in parallel. What kinda resistor i asked myself.
here is my math using my horrible memory of ohms law and some wiki.
my actual voltage is 8.95 measured with a multimeter. The driver current is 900ma. So here is my understanding of the math (which could be totally off)
8.95/900=.00994
8.95/700=.01278
difference being .00264
I believe that means i need 2.6k resistance to drop my current to 700ma
can I buy a 2k resistor and plug it in to "dim" the lights?
