I'm not trying to take away from the theme of this OP by any means. I noticed that Allan alluded maybe he wanted a smaller dog. I hate seeing animals at the pound. Breaks my heart.

Cassidy was a rescue dog, and I've grown to appreciate these dogs thanks to Milly's instance that puppy mills are evil.

Allan. You NEED a dog. You deserve a dog. Go get one.
Kristy you are so right. Sally is very gentle and super smart. Here for only a day and she already has her peepee spot outside. You take her there, she goes potty. She likes to sleep under my office desk. She already knows where the back door is and if she gets lonely or lost in the house she always comes back to the office which is home base for her.
She is still shy and too skinny but she is learning super fast. She is getting used to the cat. really a super smart puppy. Probably learned more in a day than my stubborn Catahoula mix learned in his life lol.
My husband is trying to sabotage me. In the past I always thought it was me that couldn't let fosters go so I was going to be very responsible this time and now he is saying the kids will be too sad, we should keep her, blablabla. Of course if I go for it it will be one of those things that will be told as 'Karin couldn't let go of the dog' in the future...
But anyway: you should show Gloria the pics. The pups are cute. Sally and the other pups are actually in surgery this morning.
If you adopt or foster this evening they will already be fixed and ready to go.
Why not see if Gloria agrees to foster. That's just temporary (maybe lol)

About
San Antonio Pets Alive! (SAPA!) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization run almost exclusively by dedicated volunteers.
Mission
To promote and provide the resources, education and programs needed to eliminate the killing of companion animals.
Company Overview
We are implementing innovative and progressive programs in San Antonio after studying the best practices of other cities (most notably Austin, Texas) who are no-kill or are in the process of becoming no-kill.
Description
We are currently focused on helping the healthy and treatable pets who are at risk of being killed in a shelter, by rescuing the pets who are at the greatest risk and helping owners who are having problems so great that they need to surrender their pet(s) to a shelter.
General Information
In our rescue program, to not duplicate work of other agencies, we focus solely on the pets who have already been passed over by other groups and the shelters’ adoption programs and only take the healthy and treatable pets who are about to be killed and have no other options.
