    Default Tank overheating Thank You

I don't remember who posted it or under where. But somebody posted freezing rodi water to stick in tanks to help cool them off. Just wanted to say thank you. My **** AC decide it wanted to go on strike and that is how i keep both my tanks cool. Ac and fans. Well my nano got up to almost 90 degrees & my 125 to 83ish degrees. Well i had pre frozen some in plastic cups ready to go. And plopped them in when i got home and realized it. Temps are in normal ranges and I'm freezing a lot more rodi. Cause ac is still knocked out. So thanks again whom ever it was.

Depending on how much ice you are needing to add you might want to freeze some saltwater as well so the salinity won't drop too much. But more than likely with the increase in temp you should be fine because with more fans and higher temps would increase the evaporation rate.

Yeah. It's evaporating pretty good right now. I have some sw freezing too just in case. I was thinking about that as well. I am using ice packs in the nano. A big ice cube could trough that out of wack rea quick. Appreciate the warning.

Mike, this happened to me last summer. Dropping to water in the tank will mean you have to watch the salinity. I bought a case of bottled water and froze them. I dropped several bottles (unopened) in at a time when needed. While the initial bottles were freezing, I used ziplocks filled with ice. I just grabbed a few 20lb bags of ice and put them in a cooler. Made sense to me at the time and allowed me to keep my tank cool without having to worry about salinity. Hth.

Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.
