Thread: how are you keeping up with Cal and alk demands?

    Default how are you keeping up with Cal and alk demands?

    I need to start looking into this for the tank ill be setting up soon, as I mentioned in another post im making a comeback. Whats changed in the hobby, what is everyone using? Calcium reactor? Kalk reactor? Two part dose? please help

    TexasTodd got me back into dripping kalkwasser. I use that and baked baking soda for calcium and alk.

    I just add 1Tbsp kalk per gallon of ATO water. Keeps my calcium 460-500 and alk 10-11. Easy maintenance.

    IIRC isn't it 2 level tablespoons? That's what I use in my ATO. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I don't want to throw money away on expensive stuff like kalk ;)

    BRS two part has worked good for me, once you get your levels to where they need to be and figure out what your daily dose is it's easy.

    I've been using Sea Lab Kilo blocks over the last year. Can't overdose on them.

    I use BRS two part, and drip brightwells kalk+2 twice a week. I'm buying a two lil fishes kalk reactor/stirrer this week so I can dose via ATO

    He rob, I was wondering if you were still doing those blocks.

    I dose two teaspoons each morning in a quart container dropped into my fuge return.
